Taylor Alison Swift, born December 13, 1989 is an American singer and songwriter. Swift's discography spans many genres as well as her songwriting that is often in the form of her personal life experiences, has garnered a lot of media attention and critical praise. Born in West Reading, Pennsylvania, Swift moved to Nashville at age 14 to pursue a career as a country singer. Swift signed a songwriting contract with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2004 and signed a recording deal with Big Machine Records in 2005. Her self-titled debut album was Swift's debut album featuring country music. It was also the first U.S. platinum-certified album. Swift's next albums, Fearless (2008) and Speak Now (2010), focused on the country genre of pop. The first two country songs that reached the top of U.S. charts for airplay were "Love Story" and "You Are My Friend". Red (2012) included the debut Billboard Hot 100 song number one, "We Are Never Ever Going back Together". She discarded her image as a country singer and released 1989 (2014), an album of synth-pop that featured the chart-topping tracks "Shake It off", "Blank Space" and "Bad Blood". Reputation (2017) was released in 2017 and its number-one song "Look What You Made Me Do", was the result of media scrutiny. After leaving Big Machine, Swift signed with Republic Records in 2018 and released her seventh studio album, Lover (2019), followed by the autobiographical documentary Miss Americana (2020). She ventured into indie folk and alternative rock in her albums for 2020, Folklore and Evermore which featured two singles "Cardigan" and "Willow" were atop the Hot 100. Swift started recording her earlier six albums after an argument with the masters. Two of the albums were released in 2021--Fearless(Taylor’s version) and Red (Taylor’s version). "All Too Well (10 Min Version)" from the latter album was the longest song to make it onto the Hot 100. Her 2022 album Midnights was released, and its single "Anti-Hero", broke records for streaming time. Swift has directed music videos and films, including All Too Well: the Short Film (2021), as well as playing supporting roles in many others. Swift is among the most well-known music artists ever. Swift is the highest-rated female on Spotify and is the only artist to have five albums with over 1 million copies sold in the US. Her accolades include 12 Grammy Awards, including three Album of the Year winners; an Emmy Award; 39 American Music Awards and 29 Billboard Music Awards. She also holds the record for 92 Guinness World Records. Swift was included in the Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers of All Time, Billboard’s Greatest of All Time Artists and Forbes Celebrity 100. She has been awarded titles like Artist of the Decade and Woman of the Decade, Swift is a vocal advocate for the rights of artists as well as women's empowerment.
